ElaGrout – Product Data Sheet

GENERAL

ElaGrout color coating is a unique formula that contains 100% penetrating and self-crosslinking acrylic resin. It is easy to use, fast-drying, durable, and environmentally friendly. ElaGrout is resistant to water and UV light damage.

APPLICATION AREA

ElaGrout color coating quickly and easily restores the color and durability of tile grout. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The product can also be used to change the original grout color. Works on grout lines that are at least 1 mm deeper than the tiles. The product is not suitable for porous, unglazed tiles that absorb liquids or grout lines painted with tile paint.

The product’s coverage depends on factors such as grout width, roughness, porosity, and the amount of product used.

APPLICATION

Surface preparation: Before applying the product, the surface must be dry, clean, and free from any contaminants such as grease and dirt. New grout lines should be allowed to dry for at least 30 days before applying the product.

PREPARATION A-B-C BEFORE APPLYING ELAGROUT:

  • A. Check the grout depth!
  • ElaGrout works best on grout lines that are at least 1 mm deeper than the tiles.
  • Level thick and/or uneven grout lines before applying ElaGrout.
  • Use tools such as a grout router or an appropriately sized round file for the job.
  • B. ElaGrout cannot repair damaged grout lines.
  • If there are cracks or holes, repair them first and then use ElaGrout as instructed.
  • Mix an appropriate amount of grout following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Allow the grout to dry for 24 hours before applying ElaGrout.
  • C. Remove old silicone if necessary!
  • Silicone should be replaced every 3–5 years.
  • Use tools or chemicals designed for silicone removal.
  • If silicone has spread onto grout lines, remove it carefully.
  • Wipe surfaces with acetone to effectively remove grease and silicone residues.

Step 1: Cleaning

Wear gloves. Mix the Cleaner solution with 2 liters of water. You can use the ElaGrout container for mixing.

  • Wet the grout lines with water before starting the cleaning process.
  • Apply the cleaning solution to the grout surface with a sponge and let it sit for at least 1 minute.
  • Thoroughly clean the surface with the sponge.
  • Scrub the grout lines carefully with a cleaning brush. The cleaner the surface, the better the coating will adhere.
  • Wipe the surface with a damp pink cleaning cloth.

Step 2: Application

Shake the Colour Coating bottle for at least 30 seconds.

  • Replace the cap with a Luer-Lock cap and attach the application tip.
  • Use the application tip and a wooden application brush.
  • Position the tip over the grout and gently squeeze the bottle.

Tip #1:  Start with horizontal grout lines and then proceed to vertical ones. Perform Step 3 after completing both phases.

Tip #2:  Choose an appropriate area to coat (approx. 0.5–2.0 m²). The size depends on tile dimensions and grout density. For example, with 10×10 cm tiles, a suitable working area for a single person is about 0.5 m².

  • Slowly glide the brush along the grout line and ensure even application.
    Note: Avoid using too much coating to prevent spreading over the tile surface.

Step 3: Finishing

Lightly dampen the pink cloth.

  • Wipe off excess coating from the tiles carefully, avoiding contact with the grout lines.

Tip: Fold the cloth to get multiple clean surfaces for wiping.

  • Once all grout lines are dry (approx. 10 minutes), use the damp pink cloth to remove any remaining residue from the tiles.
  • Allow to dry for 8 hours to ensure the coating fully hardens.
  • Any remaining Colour Coating residues can be removed with a dry white finishing cloth.
  • Wet areas should be allowed to dry for 24 hours before use.
  • For bathroom floors, we recommend a drying time of 72 hours.

Note!

  • All tools are reusable. Wash used tools with lukewarm water to prepare them for future use.
  • Apply the product only when the material, surface, and air temperatures are above 10°C.
  • Do not apply if the dew point is less than 3°C. Avoid application in damp or rainy weather.
  • Low temperatures and high humidity may extend drying times.
  • Do not dilute. Do not freeze. Store above 4°C.
  • Do not apply if the surface temperature is below 10°C or if the temperature is expected to drop below this level within 4–8 hours of initial curing.
